Linnet Cabin (2 Double Beds)
Open May 22 through October 16
This cabin is similar in design to the Aspen with the same remodeling and porch design changes. It has a bed in the main part of the cabin with a second bedroom off the screened-in porch. Linnet is an old-fashioned name for a lark. The Lark Bunting is the state bird of Colorado.
The Linnet is a relative of the Spruce in that it, too, is constructed of logs taken from the barn of the original McCoy homestead. This two double bed cabin came to life as it now stands in the mid 1930s. Other than being remodeled, its only other major change came when the outer bedroom was logged in. The original bedroom wall was a half-log wall with opaque screen wire at the top.
The Linnet was the cabin that the Hinger family rented on their annual trip to Colorado from 1948 to the time they bought the Bruce Spruce Ranch in 1966. The Linnet is named after a small songbird in the finch family.
All our cabins have electricity, refrigerator, gas oven with four burners, microwave, pots, pans, dishes and utensils, as well as a kitchen table with chairs. A pot bellied stove provides heat, with chopped wood easily available. Note: you can chop your own wood from the pile located near the lodge for free (ax available), or purchase a bundle for a fee.
Each cabin has a half bath with cold running water and a clean, centralized area for hot showers in individual stalls. There is also a central laundry facility that can be used for a small fee. Linens are not provided. Bring sleeping bags or sheets for full sized beds, blankets, pillows, kitchen and bath towels and cloths, bath soap, shampoo, and food. If flying into town, make arrangements for bedding and linens to be provided ahead of time for a fee of $25 per bed.
